In
l989, the Oregon Arts Commission chose the Corvallis Arts
Center as the headquarters for the Linn-Benton Arts Council.
The LBAC is one of ten regional arts councils in the state
of Oregon and functions as a significant partner with the
Oregon Arts Commission (OAC) in providing arts services, arts
planning, and arts advocacy for our two-county region.
The Oregon Arts Commission defines
the core services of its ten regional partners as follows:
- Broad
dissemination of arts information
- Support
of the arts and arts organizations
- Advocacy
on behalf of the arts, serving as the 'arts voice' and functioning
as the regional conveyor, promoter, and collaborator on
behalf of the arts
- Promotion
of arts education among adults and children
- Support
of arts programming in public places
- Also
provide other services specific to the needs and resources
of the communities in each region
The Linn-Benton Arts Council has met this mandate primarily
through the publication of Artspirit, the publication
of a regional Arts Directory, and its Arts-In-Education program.
With this foundation firmly in place, the Linn-Benton Arts
Council continues to create programs and services to meet
the needs of the region.
