Artspirit |
With
the loss of 100 percent of ArtCentric's funding from
the Oregon Arts Commission for Artspirit, we are changing
to a seasonal publication: Fall (September, October,
November); Winter (December, January, February); Spring
(March, April, May); and Summer (June, July, August).
To support the work of our counties'
cultural planning committees, ArtSpirit will be highlighting
profiles of important nonprofit arts organizations.
A new feature focused on Arts Education Opportunities
is also being developed. The print calendar will be
expanded to cover 3 months in each issue. Please send
your listings for the following three months by the
first of the month before publication (Aug. 1 for the
Fall issue; Nov. 1 for Winter; Feb. 1 for Spring; June
1 for Summer).
But send your late-breaking
news, too-our website calendar and opportunities sections
will also soon be expanded and regularly updated in
order to keep our community informed about arts happenings.
If you become a member of ArtCentric,
a copy of Artspirit is mailed to you--a great convenience!
If you are not a member, you can find Artspirit at bookstores,
libraries, art galleries, coffee houses, and many businesses
in our two-county region.
If you are interested
in advertising your business or organization in Artspirit,
or if you have questions about ArtSpirit, please call
Micki Reaman at (541)754-1551 or email her at micki@artcentric.org. |

Arts
Directory |
In
the past, the Linn-Benton Arts Council has published
a free directory of artists, and arts/cultural organizations
every two years. In 2002 many enhancements and additions
were made to the Arts Directory. Artists from all
art forms (dance, music, theatre, literary, folk,
film etc.) are included; in the past, the focus has
been primarily on visual artists. A greater range
of arts and cultural groups from the two-county (Linn
and Benton) area have been listed. In the Fall of
2003 we will offer as artist profile page for every
artist who is a member of ArtCentric.
Printed directories
are rapidly out of date so we have made a decision
to put our directory online and to offer a print version
only when increaded listings warrant it.
Our directory includes
individual artist listings, non-profit arts and cultural
organizations, and arts related businesses. If you
are not listed in our directory, please email the
following information to victoria@artcenric.org:

Arts-in-Education
Directory |
An
Artists Directory listing the artists and services AIE
provides is sent out to public schools in Linn and Benton
counties each Fall. The roster is updated every two
years; applications are available at the Corvallis Arts
Center. Professional artists who enjoy teaching are
encouraged to apply.
In the future the directory
will be available on-line for the convenience of schools
and organizations interested in booking residencies. |

A
Brief History of the Corvallis Arts Center |
In
2002, the Corvallis Arts Center will be launching
a series of programs and events to celebrate its 40th
anniversary, culminating, on January 26, 2003, in
the major celebration of its official ribbon cutting
opening. One of the most important ways we are celebrating
our 40th anniversary is by the publication of "The
Unfolding of an Idea: A Brief History of the Corvallis
Arts Center, " written by our founder, Marion
Gathercoal. This book includes her memories of how
the Corvallis Arts Center came to be, historical photographs,
information about the unique architecture of our building,
and brief stories about some of the other significant
founders of the Corvallis Arts Center, e.g. Robert
Mix and Corrine Woodman.
The publication is now
available at the Corvallis Arts Center.
