40th Anniversary of the Corvallis Arts Center - On January 26, 2003 we will celebrate the 40th anniversary of our formal, ribbon cutting opening ceremonies in 1963, but the Corvallis Arts Center will also honor this anniversary over the course of 2002 in variety of ways. Whether through improved services, new programs, or special events, we are proud of our 40-year history and take seriously the responsibility of its legacy. Please check back for specific information about upcoming anniversary events.

  • We have a new "umbrella" name--ArtCentric. We want to thank the many people who gave us ideas for our new name; ArtCentric was suggested by a long time volunteer and supporter who prefers to remain anonymous. We chose this name because it conveys that the arts are central to our lives, because it encompasses both of our organizations (The Corvallis Arts Center and the Linn-Benton Arts Council), because it evoked many positive images for people, because we felt it was an easy name to transition, because it is playful--and because it is SHORT! So--when you call us, don't hang up when you hear "ArtCentric"--you have reached the right place.
  • We also have a new logo! Under the direction of instructor John Aikman, we worked with the talented graphic design students of Linn-Benton Community College: Mamta Khatter, Amy Brauer, Sarah Johnson, Kari Kropf, Dana Harrington, Rachel Iverson, Susan Whiteacre, Daniel Ohlsen, and Brett Furtwangler. Though it was difficult to choose only one design, the award winning logo was created by Daniel Ohlsen. This logo will be incorporated on all our print materials, our web site, and our new signage. Congratulations, Daniel--and a warm thank you to all the students who worked with dedication and creativity to help us move our graphic identity forward.
  • The new Linn-Benton Arts Directory is now available at ArtCentric. We are again indebted to LBCC graphic design students for the design and layout of this directory: Daniel Ohlsen, Amy Brauer, and Jaime Pike. The directory has been enhanced and expanded, but if you missed the print deadline, you have another opportunity to be listed. We will be putting the directory on line, so if you would like to be listed as an artist (visual artist, dancer, actor/actress, storyteller, etc) an arts organization (museum, gallery, theatre, etc.) or an arts-related business, please contact Gretchen Cuevas at (541) 754-1551 or gretchc@artcentric.org
